Founded in 1985 and sited on the edge of the world-renowned University of Otago campus Brooker Travel originally specialised in managing the travel requirements of the University's Academic and Management staff. The agency has grown to be one of the leading travel providers not only in Otago, but nationally.

In 1989 the expansion of the company meant restructuring and Andrew and Karen Carmody became Directors. With this came a broadening of our customer base and while seeing the University as an important and major part of our business, Brooker Travel has expanded to specialise in corporate travel. This has resulted in supplying a diverse range of travel services to the film, maritime and engineering industries, among others.

By 1996 Brooker Travel had moved from being a family business to becoming a company incorporating new Director David Smith. This resulted in a shift to our current premises and the commencement of a serious commitment to technology. The merger of Winston Darling United Travel into Brooker Travel in late 1999 further strengthened the company making it among the top 20 retail travel agencies in New Zealand.

In addition, we also have a full foreign exchange bureau in Dunedin situated on site at our George Street location, representing the Thomas Cook and Travelex brand.

In 2003 we expanded our business into the North Island with the purchase of Exclusive United Travel situated in central Wellington.

The company’s core business continues to develop offering a full range of travel services with an emphasis on tailoring travel to individual needs for business, conference, academic and leisure.
